SAAGS Terms of Service for Members

Welcome to the membership portal of the South African Aesthetic Gynaecology Society (SAAGS). By accessing or using this members-only area, you agree to be bound by the following Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Membership Eligibility

Membership and portal access are limited to verified individuals who meet the SAAGS membership criteria:

  • Ordinary Membership:
    • Must be an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) or equivalent statutory body in a SADC country.
  • Associate Membership:
    • Medical practitioners in women’s health registered with the HPCSA.
    • Registrars in training for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in South Africa.

SAAGS reserves the right to approve or deny any membership application at its discretion.
Note: Associate Members may access the portal but do not have voting rights.

2. Member Conduct

By using the portal or participating in SAAGS activities, you agree to:

  • Use the platform exclusively for professional and educational purposes.
  • Not share login credentials or portal content with non-members.
  • Treat fellow members with professionalism, courtesy, and respect.
  • Uphold ethical standards as per SAAGS’s mission.
  • Abide by applicable laws and professional regulations.

Unethical behavior or misuse may result in termination of membership and/or portal access.

3. Confidentiality

All content within the members area — including videos, case studies, presentations, and documents — is confidential and intended solely for professional development. Redistribution or public sharing of content without written consent from SAAGS or the original creator is strictly prohibited.

4. Intellectual Property

All content provided by SAAGS is protected under intellectual property and copyright laws.
This includes but is not limited to: articles, videos, research materials, branding assets, and downloadable documents.
No content may be copied, edited, or repurposed without express written permission from SAAGS.

5. Fees and Payments

  • Membership fees (as determined by the Council) are payable annually in advance and are non-refundable, unless otherwise stated.
  • Access to the members portal and related benefits is conditional upon active membership status.
  • A 30-day grace period applies after membership expiration; thereafter, access may be revoked.
  • Payments are securely processed via PayFast.

6. Termination and Suspension

Membership or portal access may be suspended or revoked by SAAGS in the following cases:

  • Failure to pay fees within 6 months of invoicing.
  • Breach of these Terms or Code of Conduct.
  • Misrepresentation of credentials or unethical behavior.
  • Resignation by the member or vote by the Council.

In such cases, no refunds shall be provided unless determined otherwise by the Council.

7. Governance and Member Rights

  • Members may vote in elections, nominate peers, and serve on the SAAGS Council as outlined in the Constitution.
  • General Meetings are held at least once every two years, usually alongside the official SAAGS Congress.
  • Council elections are conducted via transparent, secure electronic systems overseen by an Elections Sub-Committee.

8. Legal Status & Disclaimer

  • SAAGS is a non-profit voluntary association and separate legal entity.
  • All materials shared are for educational purposes only and do not constitute medical advice.
  • SAAGS disclaims any liability for decisions made based on materials provided through the Society or portal.

9. Modifications to These Terms
These Terms of Service may be revised from time to time. Members will be notified of significant changes via email or announcements on the portal.
Continued use of the membership portal or participation in Society activities after such updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
