Hannah Kaye
I’ve always been passionate about nutrition and health. However, it was only when I began my journey to become a Nutritional Therapist that I came to fully appreciate the wonderful interplay between nutrients and the human body.
Every cell, tissue, organ and system is dependent on communication and feedback from another. To communicate effectively, these organ systems require help from different nutrients – effectively provided by the food that we eat. For example, essential fatty acid deficiencies are implicated in symptoms from dry skin to high cholesterol to depression. Identifying these types of deficiencies are integral to my approach.
I believe in integrated medicine and often draw on the expertise of other health professionals in order to serve my clients best. In my own practice, I adopt a biomedical approach. This means that I address underlying health problems through diet, nutritional supplements, identifying hidden allergies, treating the gut and detoxification.
I address all areas of health but am extremely passionate about child health, particularly learning challenges such as ADD, ADHD and Autism. I am a Defeat Autism Now (DAN!) practitioner and have agreed to the underlying philosophy of the DAN! approach – that autism encompasses a spectrum of disorders with multiple provoking stressors and multiple potential susceptibilities. It is essential to pay careful attention to the unique symptoms, history, and examinations of each child.
I contribute regularly to many South African publications and websites including Natural Medicine, Living & Loving, Sense, Longevity, Your Family and Thrive. I hold degrees in both Nutrition and Journalism and am constantly keeping up to date with advances in functional medicine.
